Itiva Networks Teams Up With Turner Sports and SportVision to Unlock New Pause and Rewind Features for NASCAR.COM’s TrackPass RaceView
NASCAR.COM’s premier live sports subscription product introduces ability to “back up” to any lap of every race in 2008 using Itiva’s unique content delivery solution
Palo Alto, California, Feb. 27, 2008 – Itiva Networks, the on-line Video Content Delivery Solution for high quality digital assets, today announced that Turner Sports New Media, NASCAR and SportVision used Itiva’s unique hybrid Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution to successfully deliver TrackPass RaceView for the 50th Daytona 500 onthe league’s official web site. This is the first of 36 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races Itiva will power for NASCAR.COM in 2008.
TrackPass RaceView, a 3-D real-time sports visualization application powered by SportVision, is one of the top live sports subscription products on the Internet today and available only on NASCAR.COM. Now entering its second season, it allows racing fans the ultimate way to follow their favorite NASCAR driver alongside the race broadcast. TrackPass RaceView utilizes the Itiva delivery solution to combine live event delivery with pause and rewind capabilities so that fans can back up to any moment of the race. This includes the ability to rewind up to 43 different race driver audio channels.
Turner Sports, the Turner Broadcasting production unit that operates NASCAR.COM, selected Itiva Networks for its ability to deliver simultaneous seek-able live streams on a very large scale and yet, provide enormous capital efficiencies to minimize delivery costs.
“TrackPass RaceView has already given tens of thousands of fans the ability to follow any driver during a race,” said Lenny Daniels, senior vice president of production and new media, Turner Sports. “We’re excited about this new rewind functionality that enables fans to track back to points that interest them the most during races.”
Itiva Networks is the only hybrid CDN that resolves the issues of core network saturation by making use of servers, proxies and peers to reliably sustain a high quality of service at the lowest possible cost. Itiva’s unique solution results in fast, full-screen video and large file delivery without comprising quality. Itiva’s patent-pending technology protects copyrighted material, supports embedded advertising, and defines the future direction of video delivered over the Internet.
“Turner Sports continues to lead the way in providing the most ground-breaking, and technologically-advanced experience for the delight of sports fans around the world,” said Robert Arn, CTO of Itiva Networks. “We’re proud to be a part of this effort and applaud Turner Sports for setting new standards defining the most dynamic interactive experience developed for the Internet. We expect to see further milestones like this as more media and entertainment organizations realize the value of developing the most creative, comprehensive, precedent-setting interactive content for online viewers.”
