The contribution of nodes in Quantum Transport is similar to that of a "controlled peer to peer" model. This means that peers can contribute bandwidth to other viewers but only if permitted by the Itiva publishing management system. The proxies on the other hand behave like automatic caching devices that are programmed to detect popular content. As soon as a piece of content is requested more than once, the proxies will keep it in cache to be served to subsequent viewers. In effect, every proxy on the Internet can become a hub computer delivering streams to multiple viewers. This creates bandwidth amplification and also enables a powerful multicast effect with much better dynamic properties than regular multicast. Proxies are located in your neighborhoods, universities and corporations which constitute the "hedge" of the internet.

Since the Internet was originally designed to carry small HTTP web pages, it now struggles to meet the rising demand for streaming video. No matter how much you are willing to pay your current CDN, the available core bandwidth on the internet cannot support high bit rate video to large audiences.
